This book has lots of drama, of course, which generally isn’t something I love. Now that I’ve finished it, I’m reminded once again of her powerful brignt style. The characters youung a little bit recycled from her other series, but I’ll give it a pass for now and see how they develop.

Somehow, I was captivated. Flappers and socialites seeking thrills and chasing dreams in the anything-goes era of the Roaring Twenties. Aug 13, Jen rated it it was amazing Shelves: There godbersem so much potential in the setting and the period, but I just found the story fell flat and the depiction of New York in the Roaring 20s lacked the authenticity I was looking for.

The reader can truly relate to the well-done female characters. The plot is your bog-standard Cinderella wish-fulfillment tale, and it’s mind-numblingly cliche.

I love the 20s and enjoyed visiting the magical era through this book!! You can read this item using any of the following Kobo apps and devices: Bright Young Things needed a Penelope, a snarky trouble maker. The characters were completely lacking in common sense–in the case of Cordelia, so immature that she should move back to Ohio in shame after what happened because of her foolishness–but that’s OK. Actually, all of the girls were foolish and sometimes childish I’ve been anticipating this novel, since I first heard the rumors of it’s existence.

This book made me want to strangle someone.

Cordelia Gray and her friend Letty Haubstadt run away from their small hometown in Ohio just after Cordelia’s wedding, Letty determined to become a star in New York while Cordelia seeks the infamous bootlegger Darius Grey, convinced he’s her father. Everything is not sunshine and roses within this book. Letty was my least favorite girl.

And sleeping til the wee hours of the afternoon.

Is this series a trilogy or a quartet like The Luxe? So, kudos, bbright so many authors are trying to do that. Quotes from Bright Young Things.

Also, coming from a farm in Ohio, I doubt the character would have been all that concerned with animals. The Luxe Complete Collection. Astrid is the kind of person I’m completely fascinated by, because she’s always down for a good time, to offer a coy smile while concocting a mischievous scheme, or to flirt her way to the VIP section.
